After resurrecting the ZDX name for its first all-electric vehicle last year, Acura has now announced when we’ll see it in the flesh. The wait won’t be long: Aug. 17 marks the debut of the 2024 Acura ZDX electric SUV. The reveal will take place during Monterey Car Week, the crème de la crème of automotive events, where new-car debuts occur alongside spectacles like the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in which priceless classics line the famed golf course on the California coast.

The Acura ZDX name was used during a brief run from 2010 to 2013, but to say the vehicle flew under the radar would be an understatement. A kinder acknowledgment might be that it was ahead of its time as one of the first crossovers with coupe-like lines. It was like the younger, rebellious sister to the practical MDX.

Acura assuredly has far higher hopes for this all-new version. The 2024 Acura ZDX marks the first electric vehicle (EV) from Honda’s luxury brand. It is the fruit of a joint venture between Honda and General Motors and shares its platform with the Cadillac Lyriq. Size-wise, we expect the new ZDX to slot between the Acura RDX and MDX and feature seating for five.

We estimate the 2024 Acura ZDX will start around $60,000, and it is slated to go on sale “early next year,” Acura says. In addition to the standard ZDX, there will also be an Acura ZDX Type S performance model.

Other details we know so far are that the ZDX will feature Acura’s first integration of the Google built-in tech system, and it marks the first collaboration between Acura and Bang & Olufsen, which makes awesome audio systems found in vehicles from brands including Audi, Bentley, and even Lamborghini.

“Acura’s unyielding commitment to delivering on the Precision Crafted Performance brand promise will continue in the electrified future, exemplified by Type S models that put the driver experience first,” said Emile Korkor, assistant vice president of Acura National Sales, in announcing the debut date. “As the most powerful and quickest accelerating SUV in the brand’s history, the ZDX Type S will deliver on this promise and bring an exhilarating driving experience to the electric vehicle market.”

Once it’s revealed, we’ll relay more details and images of the forthcoming Acura ZDX.
